Two Ways to Make Money From Network Marketing

You’ve heard the story about the California gold rush. About how a few gold miners struck it rich but most struggled, never found any gold, lost everything and died poor and broke.
Then there were the people who sold equipment to the gold miners. Those people ALL got rich–the people selling shovels, picks, axes, clothes, jeans, food, housing — even Clipper Ships like in this ad. Levi Strauss got started then and you know how he turned out!
There are 2 ways to make money in network marketing.
Traditional Income From Network Marketing
The first way is through your company. You can retail your products.
You can sign people up, build teams and earn residual commissions.
If you only market your network marketing company, you’re like the gold miners.
There is a lot of money to be made there, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
The Secret Way To Make Money From Network Marketing
The 2nd way to make money in network marketing is by teaching people how to do network marketing.
It’s like selling shovels to the gold miners. If you do it right, this will make you as much or more than your network marketing company.
And instead of just being a company rep or distributor, you’ll be seen as a trusted expert, a go-to resource in your niche.
Think about Tim Sales, Randy Gage, Jim Rohn, Ann Sieg or Mike Dillard — All network marketers making more money from their products than their commission checks.
Are You Qualified To Sell Training To Network Marketers?
So how do you market to network marketers?
Is it hard? Is it complicated?
What if you haven’t made a million dollars in network marketing?
Can you still sell products to them?
It’s not hard or complicated. If you’ve “been online” more than a month, I guarantee you know more than a brand new person. Online marketing is a mega-steep learning curve and if you’re involved, you’re learning a lot of new things.
There is SOMETHING you can teach a brand new online marketer.
Now, if you haven’t made money from your network marketing business, you probably won’t teach others “How To Sign Up 100 people in 30 days.”
But there are plenty of other skills to teach new people.
Was Levi Strauss qualified to sell products to the gold miners? Had he made it big in gold mining?
What about the shovel salespeople? Were they experts in shoveling for gold?
No, there were not experts in gold mining. They hadn’t “made it big.” They didn’t know where to go or where to shovel for the best results.
And yet they were still qualified to sell products to them. In fact, there were HELPING them and doing them a service by selling to them!
What Can You Teach New Online Network Marketers?
Start thinking about how you can help new marketers online.
- How to create facebook fan pages and get lots of “Likes”
- How to create facebook ads
- How to do article marketing
- How to generate leads with youtube
- How to set up a blog
- What to say on their lead capture pages to get people to opt in
- What a lead capture page is!!
New online marketers need so much information to be successful that the market is endless.

Your premise that fortunes were made by those supporting an industry is well founded by historical examples and one that many forget. We don’t have to be THE Gold Miner, as that is frought with huge risks.
Being someone who supplies the basics has always been a niche that seems so basic we forget that IT WORKS for online marketing and all other industry.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t be network marketers. I love the industry and am actively involved. But somehow many marketers miss the fact that the leaders also monetize by selling their knowledge (aka tapes, cds, dvds), not just their company’s products. And it definitely works!
Hi Kari, wow all your network marketers are really pumped and jacked up huh? I might have to start looking into this a little more in detail. I’ve seen one of my customers David Wood pushing this idea and a few others today. I don’t really understand it in full but apparently there’s opportunity for money to be made.
Network marketing is a great business model Brian, especially for leverage and really living that 4 hour work week.

Great point Terry! Whatever one decides to teach and share with others, make sure you know your stuff and always give a 30-day money back guarantee so your customers always get more value than they pay for.
Network marketing is a fantastic business model but the concepts of generating multiple income streams at the beginning is so important. I teach all my team to earn an ROI on anything they are paying out for as soon as possible.

Yes, Nicky–multiple streams of income! So many network marketers get locked into that model and think it should be their only source of income. That’s thinking too small.
